To learn about Thailand's rich past and culture, there is a number ofinteresting museums and cultural institutions around Bangkok and many are easily accessible by BTS SkyTrain.
Bangkok Art and Culture Center
The Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) becomes a meeting point for artists or audiences and also a creative hub for everyone.The exhibition and events are not only involving art but also theatre, film, writing, music and design and included with art library, shops, restaurant and coffee shop for all art lovers.

National Museum
Comprehensive collection of Thai and Buddhist art and sculpture of particular note is Wat Buddhaisawan, the Royal Chariot collection and collections of Khmer and Sukhothai period art. The museum building was erected in 1782 to serve as a palace and in 1884 King Rama V turned it into a museum."

Royal Barge Museum
The Royal Barge Museum houses the fantastic Royal Barges which are used in ceremonial processions on the river. The museum is located on Bangkok Noi canal.

Vimanmek Teak Mansion
Mansion built of golden teak in 1868 and moved to present site in 1910. Former residence of King Rama V, comprised of 81 rooms with imposing staircases, octagonal rooms and lattice walls. Contains many antiques and art objects as well as personal effects of King Rama V

SkyTrain to N3 Victory Monument Station (Sukhumvit Line). Leave via Exit 3 and catch a taxi along Ratchawithi Rd. to Vimanmek Teak Mansion.
Suan Pakkard Palace
Complex of historic homes relocated from Chiang Mai and once used by members of the royal family. Set on beautifully landscaped grounds. Impressive 450 year old "Laquer Pavilion" relocated from Ayuthaya, decorated with gold leaf murals depicting the Buddha's life.

The National Gallery

SkyTrain to Exit 2 Saphan Taksin Station (S6) (Silom line). Take Chao Phraya Express Boat from Sathorn Pier (Central Pier) to Railway Station Pier (N11) and cross the river on shuttle ferry to Tha Phra Athit pier and then walk to The National Gallery.
Jim Thompson's House
Legendary American who rejuvenated Thailand's silk industry, developed compound of six traditional Thai teak houses which are filled with a priceless collection of Asian antiques including carvings, paintings, decorative items etc. The oldest house dates to 1800.

Siam Society
Home of a respected research library and the Khamtieng House, a century old residence relocated from Chiang Mai. Artifacts and hilltribe costumes are on display. Society publications on sale at headquarters building.

Children's Discovery Museum
As a result of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's address proposing the creation of an informal and educational initiative in the form of a Bangkok Children's Discovery Museum.
The Children's Discovery Museum has three exhibition buildings together with a conference room and amenity areas. The total area inside the building is 7000 square meters and the total area outside the buildings, to be used for educational activities to provide amenities, is more than 3000 square meters.
